By Jason Calderon:
We recently launched our V.2 Raglan Shirt. It's made of a Hemp/Organic Cotton Jersey blend that has a nice soft, worn feel. The weight of the material (7.5 ounces) gives it the look/touch of a material you'd find in vintage work-wear.
The design of the shirt was loosely inspired by the uniforms worn by the crew of the Nostromo in the original Alien film (specifically Lambert, The Navigator). I love everything about the look and feel of that movie, especially the costume designs. The garments in the film all have a lived-in, retro/futuristic balance to them that really excites me. You'll also notice the Nostromo uniforms feature prominent "Weyland Corp" branding in the form of multiple embroideries. I wanted to capture that cool retro/future workwear spirit in the V.2 Raglan Shirt design by using a unique, soft but durable material and including some type of embroidered branding. To accomplish this, I designed a small embroidered patch featuring our West Daily "WD" brand mark to adorn the shirt's left sleeve (as well as other garments in our collection). This design was meant to add a subtle yet dynamic element to the shirt: something that would catch the eye but not over-power or detract from the overall look.
The great thing about the fabric of the V.2 Raglan Shirt is that it's hemp fibers are naturally anti-bacterial and moisture absorbent. This makes it the perfect shirt for space exploration in a hot, dark, confined spacecraft. If you'd like to get a V.2 Raglan shirt for yourself, they're now available in a range of unisex sizes in our webstore.
